The attention generated by DES stimulated interest in the design of other block ciphers, intended to be easier to program in software, to have longer keys, to be more secure against differential and linear cryptanalysis, or to be more efficient on a computer.
In this section, some of the additional block ciphers which were developed in the wake of DES are examined.
